  1. YOU ARE A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES
  2. YOU ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD ON OR BEFORE THE DATE OF THE GENERAL ELECTION; IF YOU WILL BE 18 ON OR BEFORE THE DATE OF THE GENERAL ELECTION, YOU MAY VOTE IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION FOR CANDIDATES ONLY, BUT NOT ON ISSUES
  3. YOU WILL BE A RESIDENT OF OHIO FOR AT LEAST 30 DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION
  4. YOU REGISTER TO VOTE AT LEAST 30 DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION

IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AT THE VOTING BOOTH

HOUSE BILL 3 WAS SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR ON JANUARY 31, 2006

VOTERS MUST BRING IDENTIFICATION TO THE POLLS IN ORDER TO VERIFY IDENTITY. IDENTIFICATION MAY INCLUDE A CURRENT AND VALID PHOTO IDENTIFICATION, A MILITARY IDENTIFICATION, OR A COPY OF A CURRENT UTILITY BILL, BANK STATEMENT, GOVERNMENT CHECK, PAYCHECK, OR OTHER GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT, OTHER THAN THIS REMINDER OR A VOTER REGISTRATION NOTIFICATION THAT SHOWS THE VOTER’S NAME AND CURRENT ADDRESS. VOTERS WHO DO NOT PROVIDE ONE OF THESE DOCUMENTS WILL STILL BE ABLE TO VOTE BY PROVIDING THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF THE VOTER’S SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND BY CASTING A PROVISIONAL BALLOT. VOTERS WHO DO NOT HAVE ANY OF THE ABOVE FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION, INCLUDING A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, WILL STILL BE ABLE TO VOTE BY SIGNING AN AFFIRMATION SWEARING TO THE VOTER’S IDENTITY UNDER PENALTY OF ELECTION FALSIFICATION AND BY CASTING A PROVISIONAL BALLOT.

Effective Monday, March 23, 2020 the Hancock County Board of Elections Office located at 201 E. Lincoln St., Rear will be closed to the public. The office will still be working and available by phone (419) 422-3245 or by email ([email protected]). For all election related documents, a drop box is available during regular office hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday in the hallway outside of the main office. All documents must be in an envelope and include a telephone number for contact, if necessary. Absentee ballot applications are available on our website: Click Here. To maintain the social distancing recommendations by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the office will not accept any documents over the counter.

If you already cast a vote for the March 17, 2020 Primary, Your Vote WILL BE COUNTED. If you have not cast a vote and wish to; you may request to have an Absentee Ballot mailed to you.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

-  The Election Date on the Absentee Applications should be March 17, 2020. (The legislators have extended absentee voting of this election.)

-  Please also remember to fill out what party ballot you're requesting or if you want an issues only ballot.

-  Ballots should start mailing after March 27, 2020.

-  All Ballots must be postmarked April 27, 2020 or Delivered to our office by 7:30pm April 28, 2020 (The final day of the 2020 Primary Election).
